About me

My Journey into Portraiture

My journey into portraiture began with a deeply personal moment. I wanted a bespoke portrait of my dog, Kaiser - something that captured his presence and spirit, not just his likeness. Before exploring commissioning options, I decided to try having a go myself.

That decision led me into the world of pastel drawing, where I discovered the power of hand-drawn portraiture to convey character, emotion, and connection. What started as learning soon became a dedicated practice, and commissions followed naturally as people responded to the sense of recognition in my work.

Today, I create hand-drawn pastel portraits from my studio in Fife, Scotland. I specialise mainly in animals, though recently I have delved into the world of drawing people. Each portrait is carefully built layer by layer, with a focus on presence, personality, and emotional truth.

My work is slow, considered, and deeply personal - created for those who want a portrait that truly does its subject justice.

Guided by

What Matters Most

I approach each commission as a collaboration. From our first conversation, your wishes, priorities, and the details that matter most to you sit at the heart of the planning process. I work calmly and thoughtfully, taking the time to listen, guide, and shape the portrait together, so decisions feel clear and considered. My aim is for you to feel involved, supported, and confident throughout, knowing your portrait is being created with care, attention, and genuine respect for what it represents.
